....So, do you guys do Halloween in this place? You know, parties, costumes, trick-or-treating, thrills and chills? The whole nine yards! So, somethin' happens here for it, riiight?

Hey, Silver, you lookin' for a battle? I found a guy who needs to be put in his place, and you're the man for the job.

Yo, Ash! You're ready for that battle, right? The stage is set, and your opponent's good to go!

Protect, then take it down with an Ice Punch! [Bring it, leaves. We have protect. And speed, so once that barrage of leaves is done, Sneasel rushes between Grotle's legs to hit it with an Ice Punch to its underside. Hopefully the ice, elevated and angled ground of the mini mountain, and Sneasel's speed and strength will be enough to send it tumbling down.]

[Tumble down it does! KO!]

Ah, great job, Grotle! C'mon back!

Okay, Monferno, you're up!

Feraligatr. [It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see the flame on Monferno's tail, and Kingdra, while able to battle, is fairly worn out, so up comes his Chillgatr, and back goes Sneasel.]

[Ash fears no type advantage!] Use Mach Punch!

... [Feraligatr takes it! Like a pro. Although he feels it, it's not a hit that's going to take him down.]

Use return. [Maxed out power of loooove]

Use Dig to escape! [Monferno takes a hit, and, dives down into the ground to avoid more damage!]

All right! Now use Counter Shield!

[A spiraling ball of flame wheel and flamethrower emerges!]

Aqua Tail. Press through the fire. [DETERMINATION IS GO. Feraligatr charges in, smacking away the brunt of the flames with its tail!]

Match it! Break through!

Finish it! [Feraligatr uses its tail to cover most of whatever Monferno might want to hit him with- it doesn't matter, because the second he regains his ground, he fires a hydro cannon. This isn't just an anime water sphere. This is a beam of mass destruction.]

MONFERNO!

[Monferno flies into the wall! KO....no...wait, there's a serious red glow coming off of it. Oh dear...BLAZE HAS BEEN ACTIVATED. Monferno's tail flame erupts into a mass of fire, it's eyes turn red and it SCREAMS.]

Oh no! Monferno! [Ash runs over to the Pokemon, which is for now just screaming and beating it's chest.]

[But that's not how blaze works! What the heck is that. Feraligatr can't do anything right now regardless, but...]

Get Feraligatr out of the way! Monferno's Blaze is- [But he's cut off by THE GIANT BALL OF FLAME SCREAMING PAST HIM. It's headed straight for Feraligatr and Silver!]

[-Pissed monkey headed at them. Feraligatr seems okay now, but won't be able to charge up an Aqua Tail in time. So the best option is-]

Use Return! [Silver's tone is entirely different from the casual, somewhat disinterested voice he had while battling. Feraligatr shakes off its temporary weariness to stop Monferno with the power of love, the look of determination on its face just as strong as the one on Silver's. Silver at least has the common sense to cover his face with his arms, but doesn't move from Feraligatr's side.]

[Wow. This stuff even had Paul taking cover. Regardless, there is still a screaming ball of flame in Feraligatr's arms, and now it's spewing Flamethrower.]

Monferno! You gotta stop it! [Ash, full of Pokemon > Own life, runs to the scene, attempting to grab Monferno!]

[Paul... Has more self-preservation. Silver knows that Feraligatr isn't going to be able to take much more of this, so it's time for more- Damnit, Ash. It's a lot harder to wear out a freaking out Pokemon when he has to worry about hitting a trainer, too. But he does have a back up plan.]

Superpower. [With Monferno in Feraligatr's arms, it becomes immensely easy to lift and throw Monferno in some direction where no one else is. Hopefully the impact will keep the fire monkey down, or at the very least calm him, but Silver immediately puts Feraligatr on the sidelines without waiting for a result and brings in Kingdra, tired but no longer confused but fatigue, to take care of anything else that might happen.]

[Monferno struggles to stand in the crater, still screaming. Before it can roll into another Flame Wheel, Ash runs over and hugs onto it!]

MONFERNO! YOU GOTTA CALM DOWN!

FERNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

[Silver backs up in the direction of his other two Pokemon, Kingdra remaining by his side, staring in some mix of emotions that turn into pure disbelief. That Pokemon is powerful. Immensely powerful. And at the same time, that power isn't in control at all. It's almost like a raging dragon type, but...]

C'mon! I know you can hear me! You gotta calm down now!!!

[Monferno continues to scream, and, a plume of fire engulfs Ash and the Pokemon. When it fades, a crispier Ash is left holding his fainted Pokemon.]

Monferno....

...This battle's over. Silver's the winner.

[And now he's stomping right over to Ash.]

The hell were you thinkin'?! You talk all this trash about how you're a great trainer and won't lose, but you can't even keep your Pokémon in check!

[He glares and speaks in a rather angry tone not common to him.]

Just shut up! You don't even know the first thing about Monferno's Blaze ability anyway!

Of course he would. Gold's Typhlosion has the same ability, but he can keep his Pokémon under control.

If you're having difficulties doing something essential like that, especially with a Pokémon that powerful, you shouldn't be battling with that Pokemon in the first place. You can hurt others, you can hurt their Pokémon, you can hurt your Pokémon, or you can hurt yourself.

I've never once had Explotaro freak out like that during Blaze. If you can't control a Pokémon, don't use it. You're puttin' both it and yourself in danger!

I KNOW ALL THAT! I've got plenty other Pokemon with the Blaze ability! Monferno's situation is completely different!

Monferno....[He sighs, looking down at the Pokemon.] Monferno's had a lot of trauma before I was his trainer. It's cause of that his Blaze is out of control. It's not something that can cure itself at a Pokemon center, you know?

So why don't you both just get off it!

What, do you think that's an excuse? If you have things to work through with your Pokemon, it's your job as a trainer to do so quickly, and before it becomes an issue that could either hurt you and your Pokemon or unintentionally hurt someone else.
