[As the recording kicks on, the voice on the other end seems to lack its usual energy, sounding considerably more tired and strained. He doesn't sound like his usual self, at least.]

Hard to believe it's just the three of us now... Who knows how long that'll last...

[He then perks up a bit, though anyone who knows him well enough or can tell these kinds of things would be able to notice it's forced.]

Man... What a couple of crazy weeks, huh? I've never seen anything happen like that here before! But... Is it just me, or did some of that stuff seem kinda familiar?

...Hey, anybody in this village know anything about electricity? I got a project for you involvin' the Rec Center.

Cool. So this should work...

[He opens up his bag, pulling out what looks like a metal box that's small enough to hold (uncomfortably) in one hand. He puts it on the table for now, pulling out his large tome.

What follows next doesn't initially look like much. He places a hand onto his tome, tracing the electricity symbol he knows pretty much by heart now. Lightning. Continuance. Amplification. When he places his hand onto the wall, he "draws" the symbol with his fingers before placing his palm firmly on the surface. A glowing crest seems to grow out from his hand, spreading on the wall in a circular pattern.

It doesn't take any longer than a minute.]

[Gold watches with a mixture of surprise, shock, and wonder. When the boy had said it was a mixture of magic and technology... He never imagined anything like this could be possible!

Once it fades...] So... what now?

Next, I install the converter. [Which means putting his tome back into his bag and picking up the metal box. Leon pushes the back of the box against the symbol, quirking his lips into a slight frown when it doesn't spark right away. (He'd thought he'd figured out the sweet spot on this thing already.) So he moves the box around a little, nodding when there's the fzzt of the device activating.

Then he pulls his hand away -- the electrical converter stays affixed to the symbol.] Okay. You can plug that table in now.

[He stares at the box for a moment in pure wonderment. Is that really all it took?

...Regardless, he shakes it off and inserts the plug into the box.]

[He watches the lights on the table blink on as Gold inserts the plug, nodding in approval. This wasn't the first time he'd used the converter for something other than lights, but it was always nice when it worked while other people were watching.]

So, a few things to keep in mind. I don't have a lot of these converters; it's not like we have a lot of wiring and cable lying around in the stores. And if something happens to the symbol -- if the wall cracks or otherwise gets damaged -- the converter won't work anymore. [It was a little primitive in that way.]

[He nods, taking in what Leon's saying about all this.] ...So, we'll have to take extra-special care of this equipment, in other words. So how much power can these things handle?

If you can find one, you should be able to plug a power strip into one of the outlets without any problems. But the converter can be overburden; you can't indefinitely plug power strips into the outlets without something in the converter exploding.

If you need the electricity output adjusted for a really sensitive device ... you'll have to call me. I'd have to adjust the amperage with an ammeter, and that takes time. [Something about his tone says, "Please don't make me have to do that."]

Okay, got it! [Well, that cuts down on his questions, then. At least he knows he can use one device for multiple plugs now.]

Good. [Leon closes up his bag for now, looking over at the table.] So what is this thing? I know it's some sort of game.

What, this thing? It's an Air Hockey table.

"Air hockey"?

...What, you've never heard of air hockey?

You make it sound ... common. [He also didn't know what a pool table was, so.]

Well, it is. In most worlds, at least.

So what is it exactly? [He runs a hand over the surface of the table, mildly curious.]

Ever hear anything about a sport called Hockey here in Luceti?

Sure. But that was played on the iced-over lake, and with multiple people. [A smaller scaled version of the sport?]

Well, it's kinda like that, but different.

[You are stellar at this explaining thing, Gold.] I got that much.

You're a smart guy. What usually happens when you try to slide an object on a flat surface?

And this requires electricity to run? Why not just oil the surface instead?

You'd have to oil it everyday, man. That's a waste of time and oil! Anyway, just watch. [He pulls the small plastic disc out of the little compartment on the table.]

[He lifts a brow as he watches Gold pull out the disc, folding his arms and muttering.] Novelty, necessity, entertainment. Guess that's where we're at now.

Last I checked, a recreation center was for entertainment. [He moves to place the disc on the table now.]

Sure. I was more talking about the use of electricity in Luceti. [And he's still watching.] So what are you supposed to use? They used sticks out on the lake.
