[Near House 15, the Orphanage, a card table has been set up. Seated at one end of the table is Gold, shuffling a standard deck of playing cards. When someone comes near the table, Gold shouts out, in order to grab their attention:]

Come one, come all! Take a seat and play a game! Bet as much or as little as you want, you just might strike it big today! We got Blackjack and Poker here, so it's your choice! You might just become Luceti's next millionaire today!

[Is that person you today? Be warned, for Gold is a skilled gambler with far too much luck on his side for a kid.

Of course, the other residents of the orphanage might just have to wonder what the hell Gold's up to today.]

((ooc: Okay, so here's how it'll work. I found a random card generator, so I'll be using that to deal out hands fairly. Games will proceed according to standard rules for that game.Feel free to threadjack and have games with more than two players if you want!))

Frey sets down the box of his things he'd retrieved from the orphanage, staring.] Poker?

[Excellent. Gold likes you, Frey, but you're an easy sucker.]

....Are you practicing for the festival? [A booth game or something?]

[mischiefbreeder]

Maybe, but for now, I'm just a street vendor, offering games of chance to people. People can't resist a gamble, after all. [He totally plans to clean up at the festival.]

I guess..... [He has to admit, he's kind of curious, even with Gold putting it like that.]

So, how about it? You up for a round or three? I'll even give you the first game free! Call it a friend discount!

[falenandawn]

[ ....Free?] Sure. I have some time.

Awesome! [Sucker.

He starts shuffling the deck, and then deals five cards to Frey, face down, and five cards to himself.



What will you do, Frey?]

[Frey stares at the hand a bit, trying to remember what's good and isn't....

He'll discard two of them, the Ace of Hearts and 2 of Clubs.]

[Hmm... Well, he seems to know what he's doing somewhat, at least.

Gold discards two cards of his own, drawing two for himself, and dealing two to Frey.

[Frowning. He... couldn't think of anything to do with these.

Oh well.] I think I'm ready to show my cards.

[mischiefbreeder]

Lay 'em down, then.

[falenandawn]

[Laying them down- Two tens, a joker, a three and a four. Not the best hand, but something.]

[Gold lays down his own hand.

...Well, lookit that. Looks like you win this round.

[falenandawn]

[His eyes widen a bit, a smile on his face.] I guess you're right. Thanks.

Good job. [Gold lays down an amount of money equal to what Frey bet as his prize.]

[falenandawn]

Thank you. [Frey looks at the money, though, not picking it up.] But wasn't the game free?

Call it an incentive! This is the sort of thing that can happen when you play for real. Win, and big money awaits you!
