03 [Voice]

[The journal clicks on. There's the sound of someone chewing on the other end, and a bit of sauce drips on the page. Seems he found a plate of burgers on the table. They're a bit cold, but nothing a little heating up in the microwave can't handle. Good thing he comes from a modern world that knows how to use them, huh?

Finally, he has to pause in between burgers, in order to stifle a yawn. Looks like he woke up not too long ago. Soon after, he takes a bite of a burger, and begins to speak.]

You know... [A swallow, and there's another drip.] I feel like I just woke up from a really bad dream. But since I'm still here, it feels like one of those cases where you just woke up from a dream you were having in a dream. You know, like you see in cartoons sometimes!

[Nom again, then swallow.] But this place is real, isn't it? Luceti's no dream, as much as I'd love to just wake up in my own bed, surrounded by my partners, as my mom makes breakfast. Ah well...

...

...These burgers need more kick to them.

Hot enough for people to complain, but not quite as hot as being in the smithy.

That doesn't say much. People from colder regions will complain about any temperature.

Well I'm from the South Pole. It's pretty much winter all year round. If I hadn't spent the past four months working in the smithy, the weather would probably have killed me.

...The South Pole?! Isn't that place supposed to be, you know, inhabitable?

... not in our world. And we don't exactly live at the magnetic pole. Just... in that area.

You guys are pretty ballsy to live in such a cold area. In my world, only brave explorers dare set foot there. Or crazy people.

I guess so. We've lived there for thousands of years. I never thought it was a big deal.

Thousands of years... Whoa.

Or longer. [Their history isn't well documented!] We know how to survive the cold and we're good at it.

That's pretty impressive. Of course, I can handle the cold, but I know most people can't!

Sure, you can handle it, but could you live in it? How do you feel about eating tiger seal meat? Or stewed sea prunes? Or fried whale blubber?

...I'd tell you if I knew what a tiger seal or sea prune was!

A tiger seal is like a turtle seal, but without the shell. And with stripes... and more of a predator. Sea prunes are... sea prunes! They're delicious!

...Yeah, that really doesn't explain anything.

Okay. How about this!

[He's just going to draw you a picture of a tiger seal. That looks kind of like a dog. And the stripes look more like spikes. It also appears to be flying.]

...That looks like a cross between an Arcanine and a Sandslash, with Pidgeotto wings!

... none of that made any sense, except the wings. Those are flippers!

It's swimming!

Hey, it's just how they swim!

They're not very good at it, then!

You haven't seen them in the water. Once they get off the ice, they're practically impossible to catch.
