Be my guest if you care so much! Me, I'm not interested in catchin' one of those, y'see! I only catch Pokémon that I want to form strong partnerships with!

Why can't y' form strong partnerships with 'em?

I've already got a solid team of six that I wouldn't trade out for anything, that's why!

Y' don't have more than six Pokemon?

I've got eight, and they're more than plenty.

I dunno. I think y' can make friends with more than eight Pokemon if y' tried.

There's a reason you can only carry six Pokémon, y'know.

Why is that?

[ Because if he was told about this reason in the past I Ash doesn't remember ]

It's 'cause six Pokémon is considered the ideal number of Pokémon to carry on hand by the Pokémon League Association! Any more than that, and you won't be able to give each Pokémon the attention it deserves!

I never thought of it that way. But the Pokemon I don't have with me right now I bet Professor Oak or Professor Juniper are givin' 'em all the attention they need!

That's not attention from you, though.

But they seem t' be happy. And some o' 'em aren't even at Prof. Oak's lab.

Well, maybe you're content to let someone else do all the work for you, but not me! My Pokémon'll be raised by my own hands!

Some o' my Pokemon make the decision on their own! And I did raise my Pokemon!
